The instant it takes an impact, the polymer structure rate-stiffens to distribute force across the zone and reduce the peak pressure reaching your ribs, sternum, or spine. Then it resets, instantly, ready for whatever comes next.

The body is thermoformed — shaped to follow the natural contour of your torso rather than lying flat against it. This matters because a flat panel that bridges the gap between your shoulder blades and your lower back creates pressure points and air gaps that reduce both comfort and protection effectiveness.
